ISS Open Doors Days

ISS Open Doors Days

  • Open Door Day at International Swiss School is an event that is designed to provide prospective students and their families with an opportunity to learn more about our university, its programs, facilities, faculty, and student life. It is a great opportunity for future students to explore the university and ask questions about academic programs, student services, financial aid, and other aspects of university life. The purpose of Open Door Day at the International Swiss School is to create a welcoming and informative environment that encourages prospective students to apply and ultimately attend the International Swiss School. By attending Open Door Day, students can get a sense of what life would be like as an International Swiss School student and can make informed decisions about their higher education options.

  • Open Doors Days Activities

    • Campus Tours. One of the most popular activities during Open Door Day is a campus tour. Tours are led by student ambassadors or admissions staff and provide an overview of the ISS facilities, academic buildings, student centers, and dormitories. Prospective students can ask questions and learn about the different programs offered at the university.
    • Information Sessions. Information sessions are another common activity during Open Door Day at International Swiss School. These sessions are led by academic advisors, program directors, or admissions staff and provide information on specific programs, majors, or areas of study. Students can learn about the courses offered, requirements for admission, and career opportunities.
    • Meet and Greet with Faculty. During Open Door Day at ISS, students have the opportunity to meet and talk with faculty members from different departments. These conversations provide students with insights into the academic programs, research opportunities, and teaching methods at the university.
    • Student Panels. Student panels are a great way for prospective students to learn about the student experience at the ISS. Panels feature current students who discuss their experiences with academics, campus life, extracurricular activities, and other aspects of university life. Students can ask questions and learn more about the university from a student perspective.
    • Financial Aid Information. Open Door Day at ISS provides an opportunity for prospective students and their families to learn about financial aid options. Financial aid officers provide information on scholarships, grants, loans, and other forms of financial aid that are available to students.
    • Admissions Information. Admissions staff are available during Open Door Day to answer questions about the admissions process, deadlines, and requirements. Prospective students can learn about the application process, the required documents, and what they must do to apply to the university.
    • Interactive Demonstrations. The International Swiss School provides interactive demonstrations during Open Door Day. These demonstrations can include science experiments, music performances, or art exhibits. These activities allow prospective students to experience the academic programs and facilities at the university.
    • Campus Life Showcase. The International Swiss School showcases campus life during Open Door Day. This includes showcasing student organizations, clubs, and athletic teams. Prospective students can learn about the various extracurricular activities available and how to get involved.
    • Campus Resources Fair. The International Swiss School campus resources fair provides an opportunity for prospective students to learn about the various resources available on campus. • How to prepare for ISS Open Doors Days?

A successful open-day trip to an International Swiss School is all about preparation. Plan by:

    • Getting a feel for the layout of the campus – bookmark, download, save offline or print out a map.
    • Seeing where the ISS is about the town or city – if you’re getting the train, how far is it from the station? If you’re parking, will there be enough space at the university, or will you need to arrive early to find a spot?
    • Get a rough plan together for your day – book anything you need to in advance, accommodation or hotel if you’re staying overnight.
    • Pre-booking train tickets, bus tickets, or plain tickets – buying on the day is often more expensive.
    • Getting in touch with the International Swiss School administration if you have any special requirements or disabilities so they can be prepared to accommodate you.
    • Drafting questions you need answers to.

It’s very common to take parents with you on these visits. Parents see things through a different lens than students and can even give you points to think about, which you can discuss over lunch or on the journey back. If you have a friend who’s also interested in the International Swiss School – you can make it a fun day trip. Just be sure to make a list of places to see, people to speak to, and questions to ask. You can easily forget important points when you’re caught up in the excitement of potentially going to the same university together.
